| The scientific program will start with two workshops on Sunday August 22, 2010. • These are: “Recent Trends in Alcohol and Other Drug Involvement by Drivers Killed in Crashes” chaired by Dr Jim Fell. • “Drug Analysis in Alternative Matrices” chaired by Dr Alain Verstraete Participation in these workshops is included in the cost of the registration. Also on the Sunday will be meetings of the various ICADTS working groups and other committees. The formal opening ceremony is scheduled on Monday August 23, 2010. As it is 60 years since the first ICADTS meeting in Stockholm, a plenary presentation titled “60 Years of ICADTS: Looking Back and Into the Future” will be presented by the President of ICADTS, Dr. Wolf-Rüdiger Nickel after the opening ceremony. A Series of five daily plenary presentations will open the conference each morning from Monday through with following the topics: • “Risk Factors in Car Crashes” Fred Wegman. • “DRUID - reveiw and perspectives" Horst Schulze • “Acute Disinhibiting Effects of Alcohol as a Factor in Risky Driving Behavior. Dr Mark Fillmore. • “Non-Alcohol Drugs and Driving” Dr Jørg Mørland • “Social Control of the Drinking Driver” Dr Mary Sheehan The program on Monday August 23, will also include two workshops: • “DRUID-I: Epidemiology” chaired by Dr Inger Marie Bernhoft • “Driving Simulators for Alcohol and Drug Impairment Research” chaired by Dr Joris Verster On Wednesday, two additional workshops are scheduled: • “DRUID II: Experimental Studies” chaired by Dr Jan Ramaekers • “Use of Alcohol Biomarkers to Estimate risk of DUI Drivers” chaired by Dr Paul Marques and Dr Christine Moore. In addition to plenary presentations and workshops, participants are invited to submit papers for oral presentation or poster sessions. Presentations related to the following topics are particularly welcome: • Alcohol testing technology • Alcohol and other drugs in motor vehicle crashes • Alternative biological matrices for drug testing • Analytical methods for drug testing • Blood drug concentrations in drivers and proposed legal limits • Developing countries – motor vehicle accidents – alcohol and drugs related driving • DRE – field impairment testing assessments • Drugs effects on driving and behavior • Vehicle technologies to prevent impaired driving • DRUID – Driving Under the Influence of Drugs – the European integrated research project • DUI prevention , intervention and enforcement • Psychomotor tests after drug intake – driving simulator and real traffic studies • On-site drug testing technology • Rehabilitation programs • Unlicensed drivers – and recidivists • Other traffic safety topics We welcome scientists, traffic police and lawyers, official and organization delegates to give presentations by sending abstracts. Young Scientist Program ICADTS has a Young Scientists Program designed to promote involvement and career development in alcohol, drugs and traffic safety research. The activities are open to researchers and scientists under 40 years old. A special session for young scientists will be organized during the Oslo meeting. Developing Countries Programs ICADTS strongly encourages involvement by scientists and researchers from developing countries, and has programs to support and mentor the development of research in those nations.
